I was stationed at Ramstein Air Base, Germany 1983-1986 and the F-16 was replacing the F-4's starting in 1986......amazing Japan used them so long. Your airplanes looked fantastic, even when they were being retired. Truely shows the pride and hard work the Japanese ground crew put into maintaining their planes. Well done to all the ground crew people keeping their planes flying for sooooooo many years!!!! And as always, amazing camera work. :)
Hi I discovered your fantastic videos last week and since then can't stop watching them over and over. I served in the air force during the 80's and saw these beautyful jets. Really sad they had to retire. Thank you. Now we can have something to enjoy
Please forgive me gently all. But I refuse kindly to say good bye to this Beauty . It will remain forever in my Heart and in my senses, that I have the privilege on earth to see these F-4 Mesmerizing Mean Looking Flying Machine caress the sky all over the world... Exquisite Job Mr. 1-300; Good Job indeed with these videos and my humble thanks for all of them.👍👍👍👍👍
What a lot of people don't get about the F4 was it was the original all purpose fighter. It flew for the Navy off carriers in the air to air and ground support. It flew for the Air Force air to air combat ground support and as I flew it as recon. It was the first and only multi roll aircraft that did anything and everything asked of it. I miss it and am sad that it is in the boneyard or used as target drones, not a fitting end.
Of course my friend. Every plane keeper will tell you that these animals have soul.. I have served in the air force and I can tell you that it is hard to see them go. Needless to say to watch a big tractor scrapping such a beautiful jet to pieces of metal. I felt like they were slaughtering an animal
Of course he was. Maintainers and aircrew alike have a bond with their jets. Mine was the F-14 Tomcat. I was in the US Navy so I also have a strong bond with the ships I served aboard. Sailors have had this bond ever since humans have gone to sea. It's no different for those who grew up taking care of legends such as the Phantom.
@@oldgoat142 Hi. I have served in the IAF during the 80's. Saw both Phantoms and Skyhawks flying. I love the Tomcat , i think it is the most beautyful jet ever. The Phantom is also very beautyful in my eyes.
@@Raanan_Kovesh It is an honor to meet you here. I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for the IDF, and the IAF in particular. Yes, the Tomcat is a beautiful jet. It breaks my heart that they are now museum pieces, along with the Phantom and "Heinemann's Hotrod," the A-4 Skyhawk. I had the pleasure of being in Israel in the fall of 1984. What a unique country. It was an honor to be there. The senior pilots and RIO's of my squadron were all Phantom crewmen in Vietnam. They would tell stories about the prowess of your pilots in their F-4's during mock dogfights. I will always remember my days as a maintainer with joy and pride. I'm sure it's the same for you.
@@oldgoat142 Hi, very pleased to meet you too, you are a very pleasent person. Unfortunately , both the Tomcats and Phantoms are still flying in..Iran. Beause of that i am admiring the holly job of our Japanese friend here. Great videos for generations to come and a great joy for us, the old ground crews.
The saddest place to me, is the "bone yard" it houses the heroes of times past without honour or distinction. So we lose context of the difference their life. Samurais (F4) should not die in a retirement home. ⚔️
been hooked to your channel since "The Paradise of Phantoms", thanks for sharing all this wonderful footage! do you have any insight on what they intend to do with the retired aircraft?
Even if i am a WW1 era fan, i have to admit the Phantom still a gorgeous aicraft, sad to see one of the last F-4 been retired, so many gen 5 crap planes to replace these awsome machines....ONCE AGAIN VERY NICE FOOTAGE!!

Phantom, we'll miss you, we'll miss you so much.... *sobs*
Masterpiece with emotion
Just saw this on Vimeo! You never cease to amaze! What a beautiful, heartfelt tribute!

great vid. I too cried. What a plane
So sad to see this old Phantom go, but keep on posting! Would love to see more! 👍🏻
Dearest Phantom 333: you were Phabulous.
Good bye good friend....
Thanks for your protection...
👍🏻👍🏻
There was the Voodoo, the Banshee, then finally the Phantom . You have got to love the fifties and sixties.

Beautiful
Sayonara to the one of the most gorgeous fighter...sad to see them go as well as the f14 tomcats....
My feelings exactly.

Love this cover of the original by 山口 百恵 which I haven't heard in decades!
Hollywood grade video shooting... Genius.... But sad to see this phabulous jets retired...
Wonderful images! Arigato!!!
Great video and love the Phantom.
Where will this faitful servant sleep. Museum maybe? Or do they have a boneyard for her to rest?
Good bye faithful warrior1
Excellent video, the Empire of the Ricing Sun, Cordial greeting from Argentina.

I hope fighter planes that retired to an air base or a museum somewhere will be displayed as much as possible.
Awesome!!!!!!!!
I used to work on F-4's when I was at Kadena AFB Okinawa, Japan in 1985. What base is this video of.

I think the JASDF is the only force that flys with all the safety pins on the weapons still in place. So weird
With JP F-4 gone, the only operational Phantoms (along with the last F-14s Tomcats) left in the world are in Iran with the IRIAF...
Have Greece and Turkey already retired their Phantoms? 😨
Turkey, Greek, Iranian, South Korean, and some Japanese Phantoms are still in service.
Beautiful video. Sad to see them leaving. So how many Phantoms does 301,302 and 501 Hikotai have for now?
I believe they have 40 to 50 phantoms in all.
WOW
É como perder um ente querido.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😍😍
Phantom drivers - please tell me at 0+30 - that forward of the nose gear there wasn't a pin, not pulled?

Was she the last of JASDF F-4EJ Phantom?
She was not the last one.
For a while the Japan Air Self Defense Force uses F4 phantom.
If she is not the last one, what is the significance of this featured aircraft (47-87333)? Were you her pilot?
Based my interpretation of her tail number I am guessing she was the oldest still serving. 44 years in service.
did you change the song??
I had to change the BGM due to copyright issues.
Before December 23, 2019 [「さよならの向こう側」6 feat.TeN ] was used as BGM.
